Woman dies in early morning Illinois head-on car accident

Losing a loved one in a car accident is an experience no Illinois resident deserves. The family of a 50-year-old woman is grieving her death after she was killed in a car accident on a recent Monday morning. In addition, they will now have to face the high costs of a funeral and a burial.

The woman was reportedly driving northbound in the early morning hours when another vehicle allegedly crossed over and smashed head-on into the minivan she was driving. Police reported that the female minivan driver was properly restrained and the airbags deployed. However, this was not enough to save her life, and she was declared dead at the accident scene.

It was reported that there was a third vehicle damaged in the wreck. The driver and a child occupying that vehicle were uninjured. The driver of the vehicle that allegedly smashed into the woman’s car was not seriously injured and was being treated at a local hospital. Authorities reported that this man had an arrest warrant outstanding for battery in another state.

The man who remained hospitalized at last report will have a court appearance on the warrant after he is released. A reconstruction of the accident was done as part of an ongoing investigation into the accident. It is not yet clear if criminal charges will be filed in connection with the fatal accident. The family who lost their loved one in this car accident may opt to file a wrongful death claim in an Illinois civil court. Upon proof of negligence in conformance with our laws, a court may award monetary damages to cover end-of-life costs, along with any other damages as recognized under state law.
