Unsafe U-turn causes car accident that kills 1, injures 4

Drivers in Illinois are often exposed to potentially life-threatening injuries. This is especially true on weekend nights when city streets are particularly busy. Unfortunately, when a driver fails to take due care, and negligence leads to a car accident, any passengers that may be in the vehicle will be exposed to the same dangers.

A 17-year-old resident of Chicago lost his life in an accident that involved several other vehicles. According to a crash report, the accident occurred in Palos Park on a recent Friday evening. The police report indicates that the teenager was northbound on a local road when he decided to make a U-turn. Unfortunately, his car was struck by another vehicle.

The report states that several cars were involved in the crash, and four people were sent to hospitals. One victim was the passenger in the teenager’s car. She suffered critical injuries, and remained in the intensive care unit at the time of the media report. Sadly, the teenager who attempted the unsafe U-turn died at the scene of the accident.

The passenger who suffered critical injuries in this car accident and the other injured victims are entitled to pursue claims for financial relief. They may file personal injury claims against the estate of the driver deemed responsible, based upon evidence of negligence. When proceeding with such a lawsuit in an Illinois civil court, all documented claims for financial and emotional damages will be considered once financial liability has been established according to applicable personal injury laws.
