Cross-over car accident causes serious injuries to 2

The Illinois State Police is investigating a crash that occurred on a recent Thursday morning. This car accident was one of many in which one driver crossed into the path of oncoming traffic. It is never easy to determine why drivers cross the center line, and in most cases, head-on collisions are caused that often result in serious injuries or worse.

According to a police report, the accident occurred on Route 51 near Oconee. Reportedly, a 21-year-old Ramsey resident was southbound in an SUV when he crossed into the northbound lane. It is not known what caused this dangerous action. He put himself directly in the path of a northbound car that was driven by a 45-year-old Decatur man.

This man was seriously injured, and he was rushed to a hospital by air. The driver of the SUV was also injured, and he was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance. However, he was later airlifted to another facility. Illinois State Police said both men were restrained by their seat belts.

The Decatur man who was so seriously injured in this car accident will likely face high medical bills while also having to cope with lost income. He will be entitled to pursue financial relief through the Illinois civil justice system. A personal injury claim may be filed, and once the plaintiff has proved negligence on the part of the other driver, a monetary judgment may be entered. The court will then adjudicate all documented claims for emotional and economic damages that were brought about by the crash.
