Car accident in Illinois injured 2 mothers and 3 toddlers
Illinois drivers may want to exercise extra caution when they have children in their vehicles. It is natural for mothers to try and keep an eye on their children at all times, but this may cause distractions that could have serious repercussions. Only a moment’s distraction could take a driver’s attention away from the road and could result in a serious car accident.
Two mothers and three toddlers were recently injured in an accident. A mother and two toddlers were northbound on Illinois-33 in a Chrysler. She wanted to make a left turn into a parking area, but did not notice a southbound Dodge driven by a mother who also had a small child in the car with her. Without yielding, she turned across the southbound left lane. The female driver of the Dodge could not avoid a collision and smashed into the passenger side of the Chrysler.
Both the mothers and all three children were transported to a local hospital, but one 3-year-old toddler was subsequently transferred to a children’s hospital. No further information about the condition of the injured victims was reported. The female driver of the Chrysler received a citation for failing to yield when making a left turn.
Illinois residents who have sustained injuries in a car accident caused by the negligence of another party may retain the right to file a personal injury claim in court. If the claim is successfully litigated, the court may award monetary damages. This may assist victims with medical bills and other costs incurred as a result of an accident.
