Failure to yield causes injuries to 4 in Illinois car accident

Illinois drivers who fail to obey basic rules of the road may be responsible for serious auto accidents that can lead to civil lawsuits. One such accident recently resulted in injuries to several people. According to the Illinois State Police, the car accident occurred in Saline County mid-morning on a recent Thursday.

A crash report indicates that a 37-year-old Henderson man who was traveling south on Route 142 made a left turn without yielding to a northbound car. He allegedly turned into the way of the approaching vehicle, which was driven by a 46-year-old Eldorado woman. She could not avoid the collision that followed.

Both drivers, as well as two passengers in the northbound vehicle, suffered injuries. They were all transported to a hospital in the area by ambulances. The severity of the injuries to the four victims is unknown. The driver who failed to yield was reportedly cited for failure to wear a seatbelt and also for turning left without yielding.

Whenever a person's injuries are caused by the negligence of another party, the injured victims retain the right to hold the negligent party accountable for damages. The hurt in this car accident are entitled to pursue financial relief by filing personal injury claims in an Illinois civil court. Negligence will have to be established before the court will consider the entry of monetary judgments to cover documented losses. Claims may include financial losses. such as medical expenses and lost income, and also non-financial damages such as pain and suffering, loss of life enjoyment, loss of companionship and more.
