Fatal Illinois car accident kills 3, injures 5

Illinois police have recently identified those involved in a tragic car accident between a Dodge Challenger and a minivan with seven passengers. In the crash, everyone involved was injured, and sadly three people died from their injuries. Illinois police are still investigating the fatal car accident.

The two cars were driving in Aurora, Illinois: the Challenger was headed north on Broadway, and the minivan was headed south. Police suspect that the driver of the Challenger crossed over the centerline and into the minivan's lane, causing the vehicles to collide at 11:49 p.m. All eight people involved in the crash were injured in the accident.

The driver of the challenger, 28-years-old, was killed from the impact along with two passengers in the minivan, 57 and 77 years old. All other occupants of the minivan were taken to an area hospital, but while three -- ages 9,12 and 40 -- were able to stay at that hospital, two other passengers, 17 and 10, had to be airlifted to different facilities due to their serious injuries. While the identities of those involved in the crash have been revealed, their conditions are currently unknown.

The report does not state if Illinois police suspect the driver of the Challenger to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, but despite the ongoing investigation, police do suspect the driver to be at fault for the car accident. If the evidence suggests he was at fault, the occupants of the minivan may want to file individual personal injury claims against the driver's estate. If successful, these claims could compensate those injured for medical bills and related damages, as well as funeral costs for the two deceased persons.
