Three teens cause Illinois hit-and-run accident among other crime

| Aug 14, 2013 | Hit-and-Run Accidents

When young, one can be very reckless, especially when peer pressure is involved. Additionally, someone who is young may have a harder time dealing with the consequences of one’s actions, and in that course, can get into even more unwise situations. In a night full of reckless criminal activity, three Illinois juveniles committed a series of crimes including a hit-and-run accident, and finally were arrested the next morning.

First of all, the three teenagers stole a car. It is unclear at this time exactly where the car was stolen from or who the rightful owner of the car is. They were traveling north on the I-55 when they rear-ended a car in a construction zone. The teens decided to flee the scene, and they headed towards a Pilot Travel Center in the car.

By the time they had arrived, the police had caught up to them. The rash teenagers then tried to evade the police on foot, causing a chase that ultimately lead to each of their arrests at about 8 o’clock in the morning. It is not reported what charges the juveniles will face, nor is it reported whether or not alcohol was expected to be involved in the night of crime.

Thankfully, the woman whose car was hit by the three teens was not reported to be seriously injured. However, she could have been, and the extent of her injuries may not yet be known. She may be entitled to an Illinois personal injury claim against whichever teen is found to have been the driver at the time of the hit-and-run accident. While her insurance would most likely have covered the damages to the car, a personal injury claim could have compensated her for her medical bills, lost wages and any pain and suffering.
