6 People in hospitals after 5-car auto accident in Gurnee
The busy roads of Illinois are often the scenes of multi-vehicle accidents. If one driver loses control of a vehicle — or is distracted — at a time of high traffic levels, it can lead to accidents involving several other vehicles. Such an auto accident often has devastating repercussions that may include life-changing injuries and even fatalities.
Six accident victims landed in hospitals after a multi-vehicle accident that occurred in Gurnee on a recent Friday morning. According to a preliminary accident report from the Gurnee Police, two vehicles collided on eastbound Grand Avenue. The impact caused one of the cars to careen into the lanes carrying westbound traffic. This resulted in three westbound vehicles becoming involved in a second accident.
Emergency crews transported six injured people to two hospitals. It was reported that none of them suffered life-threatening injuries. An investigation of the accident scene caused road closures that lasted for about four hours. Traffic was diverted to alternative routes during that time. Gurnee Police says investigations will continue.
Any person who suffered injuries in an auto accident in Illinois has the right to pursue compensation for medical expenses. However, negligence on the part of another party has to be established by competent evidence. This may be difficult when several vehicles were involved, and the services of an experienced car accident attorney may help to obtain evidence to show negligence. Once sufficient evidence is obtained and documented, the successful presentation of a personal injury claim in a civil court may lead to financial compensation to cover medical expenses and other accident-related losses.
