1 dead, 2 injured in apparent Illinois drunk driving accident

Last week, a car crash occurred in Illinois, and recent information has indicated that the driver may have violated several laws when he was driving himself and two others around early in the morning. The three men were involved in a single car accident in which the driver was killed and the two passengers were injured. Recent information in the investigation has now lead police to believe that the driver was intoxicated, causing the crash to be deemed an Illinois drunk driving accident.

At 2:35 a.m. on Oct. 10, the three men were traveling north on Illinois Route 41. The investigators have determined that the vehicle left the highway at a bend in the road, and then the vehicle then hit several trees and rolled over. The details of the crash are still under investigation.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, the passenger received serious injuries and is still hospitalized, but the back seat passenger, thankfully, was treated for minor injuries and released. A blood test was performed by the coroner, and the driver was allegedly driving while intoxicated as well as under the influence of marijuana. The investigators also believe that the driver was speeding and not wearing a seat belt.

The investigation into the apparent Illinois drunk driving accident is still underway, but while an arrest is highly unlikely, there could still be civil actions taken against the driver’s estate. The passengers, especially the front seat passenger, may choose to file for personal injury claims against the drivers estate. If successful, these claims could compensate the passengers for hospital bills and related damages they suffered because of the driver’s seemingly reckless actions.
